Pasewalk has always been one of Pomerania and was thus often at the mercy of the Pomeranian Dukes and the Margrave of Brandenburg.
In 1192 were Pasewalk by Otto II. granted extensive trading rights. The Thirty Years War Pasewalk was destroyed by the imperial troops, and was almost entirely from 1648 to Swedish Pomerania. The reconstruction was governed by King Frederick William I. promoted.
