Bookplate: Books about the ex-libris online and digitized as

Was revived by the ex-libris 1880 you. a. by the founder of modern etchings Max Klinger. The bookplate experienced at this time a big boost, which showed itself in an enormous variety of topics and in the formation of collector circles.

1891 was the German ex-libris Club (today: German ex-libris Society) founded. Especially in the Art Nouveau bookplates awoke to new heights.

The database of the Virtual Print Room currently contains 46030 Descriptions and illustrations of the prints 15. to 19. Century from the collections of the Herzog Anton Ulrich Museum in Braunschweig and the Herzog August Bibliothek Wolfenbüttel. This includes an inventory of bookplates 2473 Pieces.
